Fabric dyeing, printing and finishing approvals.
Fabric dyeing should be planned with the knitted base material, colour reference and finishing requirements for the final order. A finished knitted fabric order combines the base fabric with an agreed colour, print and finishing brief. Fago Textile reviews these requirements together so that the quotation identifies the intended result and approval stages. The in-house and specialist partner scope for your project is confirmed in the proposal.
For solid colours, provide a physical reference or colour-system reference and the quantity for each shade. Agree the lab-dip approval process, viewing conditions and any required colour tolerances. The approved reference should be carried through to the bulk production specification.
Colour and finishing checklist.
| Specification | What to confirm for your order |
|---|---|
| Dyeing | Specify fibre blend, shade reference, colour quantities and fastness requirements. |
| Printing | Provide artwork, repeat size, placement or all-over brief, number of colours and target appearance. |
| Print approval | Agree the sample or strike-off required before production and the approved design version. |
| Finishing | Describe handfeel, brushing, dimensional stability and other requested treatments. |
| Performance claims | Confirm feasibility and the tests needed to substantiate any functional performance requirement. |
Match the method to the material.
Printing-method suitability depends on the fibres, construction, artwork and final application. Discuss digital, rotary or other requested methods as part of the feasibility review; the method offered for your order is stated in the quotation. Supplying the artwork early helps identify repeat, scale and colour issues before production planning.
Finishing can affect weight, width, handle and dimensional behaviour. Agree the finished-fabric specification and assess the sample after the intended processing. If a functional treatment is required, specify the test method and acceptance criteria rather than relying on a descriptive label.

Before you confirm your fabric order.
For fabric dyeing enquiries, provide the colour reference and quantity for each shade. Tell us which light or evaluation conditions your buyer uses, and agree how the lab dip will be reviewed before bulk release. If printing is required, provide artwork scale, repeat and colour information so the strike-off can be considered with the base fabric.
Treat fabric dyeing and finishing as connected parts of the specification. Record the approved handle, finished width and GSM alongside the colour or print reference. If a garment factory will apply further processing, include that intended route in the initial brief. Any change after approval should be recorded before it is applied to the bulk order.
For testing terminology, consult the AATCC testing and standards resources. Agree the actual methods and acceptance criteria for your fabric with the supplier.
Fabric dyeing: define the colour reference
Provide a named colour standard, an approved physical swatch or the reference system used by your buying team. Explain which materials and components should match and whether the intended garment combines different constructions. Digital images are helpful for direction, but screen appearance should not replace an agreed physical colour reference for approval.
Connect the finish to the approved sample
Discuss fabric dyeing together with the required handle, finished weight, usable width and any printing process. A brushed, compacted or otherwise finished article should be reviewed in its intended final condition. Record the approved colour reference and article version alongside the relevant test requirements. For printed developments, provide repeat dimensions and artwork information so the proposed production method can be reviewed before bulk quantities are confirmed.
