Cotton knitted fabric for wholesale collections.
Fago Textile reviews cotton knitted fabric orders for T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, underwear and everyday apparel. Start with the construction: single jersey offers a different surface and drape from interlock, while piqué introduces texture and French terry adds a looped reverse. Cotton composition alone does not determine the right fabric for your collection.
For a 100% cotton brief, identify the yarn requirements, target finished GSM, usable width and expected handle. If stretch or a blended composition is part of the design, state the exact percentages separately. Combed, carded, melange and other yarn requests need to be evaluated against the order specification and availability.
Your material brief.
| Specification | What to confirm for your order |
|---|---|
| Construction | Choose jersey, interlock, rib, piqué, French terry or another agreed construction. |
| Weight and coverage | State the target finished GSM and opacity expectations; assess a physical sample. |
| Dimensional stability | Agree wash conditions, shrinkage limits and spirality requirements where relevant. |
| Colour and finish | Include the colour breakdown, reference and any brushing or soft-handle request. |
| Order volume | Provide total quantity and quantity per colour, plus expected repeat demand. |
Approve the sample and the supply scope.
When comparing cotton fabric quotations, compare like-for-like finished specifications. The usable width, finish, testing expectations and colour split affect the buying decision alongside the price per kilogram. Ask for sample approval and the order-specific technical specification before committing to the full production run.
If organic cotton is required, include the relevant certification and documentation expectations at the beginning. Organic content and the certification scope of a finished fabric must be confirmed for the particular supply chain and order.

Before you confirm your fabric order.
For cotton knitted fabric, compare the yarn and finish with the sample your garment team approves. Specify the required usable width and record the agreed dimensional stability checks. If organic content or another material claim is required, include the relevant standard and documentation in the initial brief so it can be reviewed with the supply scope.
A repeat cotton knitted fabric order should reference the original article and approved colour. Explain any changes to print, garment wash or finishing requirements before treating the order as an exact repeat. Separate body fabric from rib or other matching components, and provide quantities for each shade. This gives the production discussion a clearer basis than a total weight and a general cotton description.
For material-claim background, see Textile Exchange standards. Confirm which current standard and documentation apply to the material you request.
Cotton knitted fabric: specification questions
Cotton fabrics can be developed in different knit structures, and the structure influences the finished surface and handle. Tell us whether you need jersey, interlock, pique, rib or sweatshirt fabric, and specify whether the composition should be entirely cotton or include another fibre.
Approving cotton knitted fabric for your collection
Review the actual finished sample against the wash and dimensional stability requirements for the garment. State the required usable width and weight tolerance rather than treating a fibre description as a complete technical specification.
Planning bulk and repeat requirements
Separate quantities by colour and article, and identify the first order independently from any later forecast. Include the delivery destination and the sampling stage you have reached. If you are comparing alternative materials, request quotations against the same finished requirements so differences in composition, processing and delivery scope remain visible to your team.
